draw together と draw level

なぜ直訳で読み解けないか
together は「複数のものを1点に引き寄せて1つにする」イメージ、level は「相手と同じ高さの位置まで引き上げる」イメージを運びます。draw together は「人や情報をまとめて結びつける」、draw level は「遅れていた自分を相手と同じ水準まで引き上げて並ぶ」という、結合と追いつきという異なる対象への働きかけが意味の違いになっています。
よくある誤用
The cyclist drew together with the leader in the final lap.（誤）。最終周に首位に追いついたなら drew level with the leader。draw together は人や情報を結びつける意味なので、順位への追いつきには使いません。Shared grief drew the sisters level again.（誤）。悲しみが姉妹の心を結びつけたなら drew the sisters together。draw level は追いつく意味なので、心理的な結びつきには使えません。まとめ
