respect の3兄弟。立派な（respectable）／敬意を払う（respectful）／それぞれの（respective）。
どれを使う？
同じ respect から派生した3語。接尾辞で意味がはっきり分かれます。
- respectable … 「立派な・世間体の良い・尊敬に値する」。
- respectful … 「敬意を払う・礼儀正しい」（full of respect）。
- respective … 「それぞれの・各自の」。

irrespective of は仲間はずれ
irrespective of ~（〜にかかわらず）という熟語は、見た目こそ respective の否定形ですが、意味は「それぞれの」から離れて regardless of と同じ働きをします。irrespective of age（年齢にかかわらず）のように使い、3語の中では respective の親戚というより独立した成句として覚えるほうが実用的です。
respectable にはもう一つ、「立派」から広がった「かなりの・相当な」という数量の意味もあります。She finished in a respectable time.（彼女はまずまずの好記録でゴールした）のように、量や成績が十分に評価に値する水準であることを表します。
respectful の反対は disrespectful（失礼な）で、be disrespectful of someone's opinion（人の意見を軽んじる）のように使われます。respectable・respective にはこの un-/dis- を付けた対義語は一般的ではありません。
